How To Maintain Your Coloured| Herbal Essences Ignite My Colour REVIEW

Don't you just love that feeling that you get after you've dyed your hair! And your hair just feels silky, smooth, and healthy! Well, it's one of the best feelings for me, which is why #haircare is so important for me, especially using products that will not only enhance my look, but will also keep the vibrance and color-popping for longer,  rather than wash it away. And trust me,  we don't want all that money to be wasted, especially for those spending thousand on their hair. So, let me let you into a little secret! The key to keeping your dyed/bleached hair popping is a great shampoo and conditioner. And my choice is Herbal Essence Ignite My Colour, which I use as part of my hair care routine!

Why Should You Choose Herbal Essences Ignite My Colour Shampoo and Conditioner?

The combination of both these products does what it says on the bottle as it literally ignites your color, by providing certain properties to enhance your look, which is due to some of the ingredients used.

Shampoo And Conditioner

Shampoo

One of the ingredients this shampoo includes is called sodium lauryl sulfate, which contains antibacterial properties, which helps protect hair from growing harmful pathogens. Also, sodium lauryl sulfate- which should generally only used in small amounts in retail products- thickens solutions which make it easier to apply,  creating better absorption, which in turn makes the product smoother and gives it a more luxurious texture. And when I apply the product to my hair, it does lather quite well, which helps me make the bottle last longer. Which I must say I find useful as my own hair is quite coarse and requires a lot of solution.

Conditioner

While the conditioner even though it does share similar ingredients, it includes Behentrimonium methosulfate which the shampoo doesn't have.  An ingredient that works effectively in smoothing out the hair, due to the fact that the properties of these ingredients are effective in detangling while also thickening the hair. This is a useful addition for me, being that I like to bleach and colour my hair which can leave my hair quite dry, resulting in tangled hair. So, having a conditioner that works towards fixing this situation, is like a holy grail for us thick-haired girls who love colour!
In addition,  both the shampoo and conditioner include a Moroccan rose and fruit scent, so once you're done applying both, your hair colour will not only flourish, but it will smell clean, fresh and sweet, and not like you've just put chemicals in your hair!

But What About the Sulfate?

I know what your thinking,  sulfate really? But the ingredients in sulfates are used in a lot of shampoo and soaps, as they are effective in removing dirt and grime. However,  the thing with sulfates is that they can be too effective and can at times remove more oil than needed depending on the individual's hair type and sensitivity.  But the amount of sulfate used in retail products should generally be safe, and honestly, if your ok with using products with sulfate there's no reason you shouldn't continue unless you experience redness or irritation, and have other similar concerns.

After Care

  • For best results, it's best to wash hair 24-48hours after you've colored your hair, so the colour can settle.
  • I suggest starting off with mild lukewarm water to allow the shampoo properties to penetrate the hair better. Then rinse off with cold water after conditioning. Think of it like a facial, as you use warm water to open up your pores, this time it's your hair follicles your opening up so the product can penetrate. And you finish off the facial with a cool toner. And it's just that this time you're finishing off your #hairaftercare with a conditioner and cold rinse to close hair follicles like you would close your pores.
  • Use a swimming cap when entering chlorine processed water, as chlorine can strip natural oils from your hair which in-turn makes your hair look dry and the colour you dyed it will look faded and unhealthy. So it's safe to safe avoiding chlorine is a good solution.

So, in general, I have enjoyed using these Herbal Essences Ignite My Colour, as I found that my hair feels replenished afterward. Plus, with the help of my hair care regime, this product helps to bring out my colour. Additionally, I haven't experienced anything negative regarding my scalp or hair.
